Sustainability in Plastics: Transitioning from Challenges to Opportunities Webinar

Demand for plastics continues to increase, but gradually we can also observe a shift in consumption. Climate change and urgency to fight pollution are big contributors to this shift, as are consumer attitudes towards the plastic industry. We think this shift represents challenges but also opportunities for any company operating within the plastics industry.

What do we see happening on the field? Mechanical recycling rates are rising, consumers claim that they are ready to pay higher prices for more sustainable solutions and brand owners talk of significantly reducing the use of plastic in packaging. What does this mean for industry players?

First, we need to consider the big picture, the surrounding environment. On one hand, legislation and regulations are evolving and driving change. On the other, technologies are also simultaneously and constantly evolving, the future will offer solutions that wouldn’t be possible today. Secondly, to succeed, companies will need to consider what these changes mean within their business context; new opportunities surely, but also a complex environment to navigate in internally and with customers as well as end-users.

In our webinar, our experts tackle these subjects from our perspective and elaborate on legislative and regulatory changes, how different understandings of LCA calculations impact, and finally, on which solutions are available today, which will be available in the future. We discuss E-cracker, carbon capture, mechanical and chemical recycling as well as mass balance principle.
